UK's Only 24 hour Velodrome Challenge comes to Manchester

by Holly Blades

Business people are being encouraged to swap their suits for lycra for a 24
hour velodrome cycling relay challenge taking place at Manchester's
National Cycling Centre. The busiest velodrome in the world with regular
riders such as Jason Kenny OBE, Laura Trott OBE and Jody Cundy MBE,
Cyclone24 is your chance to set your own record at this iconic venue.

Cyclone24 is currently the UK's only 24 hour indoor cycling challenge,
whereby riders face the unenviable task of staying awake for 24 hours,
battling physical exhaustion and mental fatigue as they take to the track in
teams of six.

The event, previously held at the Wales National Velodrome, has seen
riders clock up over 10,000 miles in the allocated time frame and now the
gauntlet has been thrown down to businesses in the North West to see just
how far they can cycle in 24 hours!

Steve Sulley, Managing Director of Stills and co-creator of the event said
"We are delighted to be bringing the Cyclone24 challenge to Manchester,
the home of Team GB. Teams will have to set goals, plan their strategy,
spend time training and then 24 hours together. It's a fantastic opportunity
to invest in a company's culture, engage employees, network with other
businesses and raise some money for good causes. We look forward to welcoming the teams to Manchester's first Cyclone24".

Since starting just two years ago, Cyclone24 has raised over £60,000 for
charity and seen over 250 riders take part. All abilities are welcome as track
induction sessions are available ahead of the event for those who haven't
ridden the track before. Businesses and cycling clubs alike are being
encouraged to take on the endurance relay, with several local businesses
already signed up including Gresham and Faithful & Gould.

The challenge clock starts ticking at midday on Saturday 6th May 2017,
when 16 teams of six will descend upon the velodrome track. Then follows
24 hours of continuous track relay cycling.

The venue for the event, the National Cycling Centre Manchester, has been
home to British Cycling since 1994 and the four time Tour De France
winning UCI pro team Team Sky and is the home of Team GB.
