Well-advertised as Wales' first closed-road sportive. Registration the day before was a success. Slight delay to the rolling start, but nothing major. Outstanding support from Mavic. First feed station ran out of water, and food - pub next door was closed so many participants had a hard time. Second feed station ran out of food, and water appeared to be in short, or intermittent supply. Third feed station at the summit of the Horsehoe Pass was running out of food until some bright spark hit on the idea of cutting the energy bars in half to increase the number available. Marshalling and signage were poor as over a hundred cyclists got lost and went on a 17-mile detour. On two occasions I found marshalls engaged in conversation and thus late in signalling the appropriate turn. Despite the 'closed roads' there were a couple of accidents involving vehicle traffic. The route was changed after the last Feed Station so it ended up being substantially less than the advertised 100 miles. The final insult: the recovery pasta meal at the end... it had run out by the time I got in. This event was supported by an energy bar maker? Piss-up in a brewery... any takers?
