Lizzie Armitstead, British track and road racing cyclist said: “Cycling has grown in popularity so much over the last few years, and what better way to celebrate the sport in 2012 than to get on your bike and take in some of the best cycling London has to offer?"

Olympic Champion and Access Sport Ambassador Rebecca Romero will also be showing her support by taking part in Ride Around London, along with 1000 other riders. Participants will follow in the tracks of Team GB cycling stars such as Cavendish and Thomas, who only a month before will have climbed the iconic Box Hill nine times in pursuit of Olympic glory in the road race.

Rebecca Romero said about the event: “Getting involved with Access Sport has given me the opportunity to be part of a genuine legacy. Events like Ride Around London help raise funds for disadvantaged children from inner cities, helping to tackle social exclusion, inactivity and obesity."
