Overall a good product and well thought out, manufactured with good materials. Easy to pull in and out of your jersey pocket and easily accessed with gloves. The ability to use your phone is welcome.

The pOcpac iPac cycling pouch is a simple product with a pretty simple aim. It is a pouch for your rear jersey pocket, which holds your expensive touchscreen phone and lets you use it at the same time.

Like A Handbag For A Cyclist

With the iPhone and android touchscreen generation firmly established it was only a matter of time before purpose made pouches hit the market to protect your electronics. The makers are a South African company set up by two brothers who got caught out in the rain with their precious devices. Throughout the pOcpac range you can use a touchscreen phone through the plastic of the pouch.

This fittingly titled iPac model is for your Apple iPhone or other android device.  It will fit these items plus some coins or a credit card for the mid ride coffee stop. The corners are rounded off on the pouch, meaning it won’t snag when pulling it in and out of your pocket. The plastic is soft and as the manufacturers claim, 'over time softens further but does not become less waterproof'.

The zip is a metal zipper plastic zip arrangement, it is suitable for normal use but as soon as you put only slightly more items in the pouch than intended the zip can pop open. This is not ideal when that grey storm cloud has just opened up. I have in the past used a Snopake a5 zipbag, which, costs one pound and has almost all the same features; you can even use your smartphone through the plastic. It won’t, however fit your phone so snugly or be as easy to use as the iPac is.

The Coffee Shop Friend

It is the point of conversation with ride friends; you are guaranteed to get a comment or two that always consists of being told that they use a sandwich bag or some other no frills object to protect their phone. However when they have a play with the touchscreen through the plastic of the unruffled iPac they soon see the point.

The backside which can be fully branded is white on my pouch, after an oily chain mechanical and removing various items from your pocket you gradually see it turn a nice grey colour, you try to wipe it clean but it stays that way.
The pouch can be purchased easily from the pOcpac UK online store, offering many variations on the product and the ability to customise the colour and graphics of the pouch. A perfect partner to a club jersey or corporate ride or simply a good mid-ride coffee stop.

We Like: Soft, keeps stuff in one place and dry, easy to use touchscreen.
We Don’t: Zip pops open easily, gets dirty, snopake pouch almost as good.
