Tour Legend Steven Rooks to Ride the Forest of Dean Classic

Wheels in Wheels Events Ltd, organisers of five sportives in the UK and the Duva International in Mallorca, are pleased to announce a special guest at the BeOne Forest of Dean Classic sportive. Tour de France legend Steven Rooks will be riding the BeOne Forest of Dean Classic sportive in Monmouth on May 1st. The Dutchman finished runner up and King of the Mountains jersey winner in the 1988 Tour de France winning the Alpe d'Huez stage along the way. Rooks also won several Classics in his career, including Liege-Bastogne-Liege and a handful of week-long stage races. Now retired from professional cycling, he is a BeOne official test rider and brand ambassador and still involved with cycling. More importantly, he still rides his bike and is looking forward to coming to the UK to ride the BeOne Forest of Dean Classic powered by Chain Reaction Cycles.
The 89 mile event takes place on May 1st in Monmouth, South Wales, and takes in a mix of terrain including plenty of climbs - 14 to be precise - all through the picturesque surroundings of Tintern, Symonds Yat and the Forest of Dean itself. The ride will be fully signposted, have electronic timing, well stocked feed stations, and full mechanical back up while on the route. Entries are restricted to 1,000 riders and places are filling up fast so those who wish to enter but haven't already done so are encouraged to enter as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
