by Henry Peacock

This new event for 2012 taking place on 14th October has a lot more than your usual sportive. As the name suggests it has Hills and Mills with some unique twists including a timed climb of the longest continuous gradient in England (rises 968 feet 5.5miles) and Cyclocross route option.

Plenty Of Cobbles On Offer

There are two road routes on offer, 35 and 75 miles in length with a very unusual 30 mile cyclocross option. It is not often that a cyclocross option is offered alongside a road option, this makes it very special and in my opinion worth a go.

Will you win the Golden Cobble? Or the Loot of the Coiners? Prizes from Morvelo and Kinesis UK too. There are age group and category spot prizes so everyone has a chance of winning something.

Kinesis-Morvelo Are Sponsoring The Event

The organisers would like to say that it’s important all bicycles have low enough gearing for the hills and that it has been fully serviced. This ride is guaranteed to shake you about and they don’t want any bits falling off or breaking on your bicycle. A new set of brake pads to cope with the descents may be needed, this is a very unusual and very special event.

Catering is going to be provided after the event by Drive by Pie, it is in the north after all! Sport Sunday will be capturing the day so everyone can savour the experience.
