The Daily Mirror Great Manchester Cycle Reaches Entry Limit on 26 Mile Route
by Henry Peacock
Places on 13-mile and 52-mile routes still available with limited spaces.
The organisers of the Daily Mirror Great Manchester Cycle, Nova International, have today announced that the 26-mile ‘Rule the Roads’ route has reached its entry limit, with 2,500 entrants.
Entries for the 13 and 52-mile closed road routes are still available but are limited in number. There are currently over 5,000 people registered for the event with 2 weeks still to go.
The Daily Mirror Great Manchester Cycle takes place on closed roads over the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend, on Monday 4th June, and is set to be the UK’s biggest street party.
With over 200 events already planned over the weekend in Greater Manchester, the Daily Mirror Great Manchester Cycle will certainly be the most spectacular as it showcases 13 miles of closed roads, including a stretch of Manchester’s busiest motorway - the iconic Mancunian way.
The event will feature three different distances based around the 13 mile closed road loop designed to cater for all abilities, from club cyclists, to families who wish to take in the sights of the city on a ride together. For those wishing to ride the event there are still places available for the Get Out and Pedal over 13 miles and Test Yourself over 52 miles. Both categories will cost just £10 for adults and £5 for kids. Children aged 3-7 go for free.
Part of a ‘Great’ festival of sport in Manchester this summer, the Great Manchester Cycle joins a full programme that includes the UK’s most popular 10k, the Bupa Great Manchester Run and the British Gas Great Manchester Swim, all of which have been organised by Nova International.
Rebecca Romero will be riding on the day
Communications Director at Nova International, David Hart said: “The Daily Mirror Great Manchester Cycle has really caught the imagination of cyclists and we are looking forward to quite a party on the streets of Manchester on the Jubilee Bank Holiday Monday.”
He continued: “The Bupa Great Manchester Run was a huge success and had 40,000 entrants, so the Great Manchester Cycle is certainly moving in the right direction with this news.”
The £10 entry fee not only gains admission to a closed road mass participation event, but riders will also be given accurate chip timing, a Great Manchester Cycle T-shirt, a medal and a finishers pack.
