TOP 5: Overseas Sportives

Mallorca 312 (Spain)

At 312kms, the Mallorca 312 is possibly the longest one day sportive in Europe. That's a full lap of the Balearic Island of Mallorca starting and finishing at the stunning Iberostar Playa de Muro hotel on the north coast of the island.

The route goes in an anti-clockwise direction out of Playa de Muro and takes in the mountainous side of the island first including the infamous Puig Major, before dropping back down to the stunning coastline round Deia, Palma and Arta. Oh, and if the distance isn't hard enough there's a time limit of 14 hours to complete the 312 event.

This year the Mallorca 312 celebrated its fifth edition with a record field of nearly 2,000 participants - including guest of honour, Miguel Indurain. The event doubled in size from last year, and of those taking part, 900 were doing so for the first time. Participants came from 30 different countries, including some travelling from as far away as New Zealand, Japan, Chile, Brazil, South Africa, Canada and USA.

If 312km (194 miles) seems a bit much then fear not as there is also a shorter half lap of 167km (104 miles) available although this is still more than enough for most people.
