Carlos Sastre Returns to Alpe d'Huez in the Trois Etapes

by Holly Blades

Cosaveli is proud to present the inaugural edition of the Trois Etapes, taking place in the French Alps between the 29th and 31st July 2012 and featuring Tour de France winner Carlos Sastre.

The Trois Etapes is a premier 3 day, 3 stage Pro-Am cycling event.  Each team entered consists of 5 amateurs and 1 pro rider, and each day will include a mountain Team Time Trial on a ‘Hors Category’ Tour de France climb.

Teams will each have a charity and a commercial partner as well as the support of a car and crew, providing the nearest thing to the pro rider experience currently available in any event of this kind.

We are also thrilled to be able to announce that the 2008 Tour de France winner and multiple Grand Tour stage winner, Carlos Sastre, will head up the roster of current and past pro riders for this year’s edition of the Trois Etapes.

“Alpe ‘D’Huez is a very special place for me. It's where I won the stage and took the yellow jersey on my way to securing overall victory in the 2008 Tour de France. I’m very excited to be riding the inaugural edition of this event and that ‘The Alpe’ will be one of the iconic climbs we ride. This will be the very first time I have ridden Alpe d’Huez since my win, so I’m looking forward to re-living some of the great memories of that day, whilst helping to raise £1 million for good causes including my own charity Smilekers.” said Carlos Sastre

“For many of our riders and even some of our pros, the opportunity just to ride with a recent Tour de France winner is outstanding. But to be able to re-live for the first time, a pivotal moment from the Tour with Carlos is a genuine, never to be repeated, chance of a lifetime.” said Cosaveli’s CEO Niels Bryan-Low

“We're also delighted to be able to announce that the ride director for the Trois Etapes is none other that the Tour de France winning Directeur Sportif - Scott Sunderland. Scott brings a tremendous wealth of pro peloton experience with him to the Trois Etapes, having worked with the greats in CSC, Saxo Bank, Cervélo Test Team and Team Sky” said Niels Bryan-Low.

The Trois Etape will be broadcast as a special Eurosport programme, going out on Sunday 19th August. Anyone wishing to snap up one of the last remaining opportunities to ride or partner with the Trois Etapes should email niels@cosaveli.com or visit www.troisetapes.org
