Entry Date for Sell-out Yorkshire Sportive Announced
by Holly Blades
Hardy cyclists will be pleased to see the return of The Struggle for 2017, which will be open for entries to pre-registered riders on Friday 4th November. Starting from Harrogate, North Yorkshire, on Sunday 21nd May 2017, riders with negotiate 9,430ft of ascent over the Yorkshire Dales' toughest climbs including Greenhow Hill as seen on the Tour de Yorkshire 2016.
Participants will enjoy the stunning scenery as they climb over the iconic Malham Cove - if they can look up from their handlebars as they fight the tough gradient . Testing their legs is the steep hairpins of Park Rash outside Kettlewell and the sharp ascent of Two Stoops at 95 miles.
Director of Struggle Events Ltd Matthew Mannakee says: "1,500 riders are already pre-registered for only 1,000 available places. Last year was a sell out event, so we are advising riders to pre-register now and sign up as soon as the event opens for entries to avoid disappointment."
Harrogate played host to the 2014 Tour de France Grand Depart and has since seen a huge influx of cyclists to the area.

"The inception of last year's inaugural event was designed to feed the hunger of Yorkshire's huge community of hardened cyclists, but also to attract the nation's keenest endurance riders to take on Yorkshire's tough terrain.
"The event was astonishingly received and we've had nothing but positive feedback from riders," says Mr Mannakee.
Recently the Struggle Events team helped Ben Fogle to take on their challenging climbs in a feature for ITV's Countrywise which will be aired in November.
