Now in her fifth year and third incarnation, the 2012 Preseli Angel moves from strength to strength. We have completely redesigned the course to give riders a real sense of 'making progress' whilst retaining the essence of the Preseli Angel that so many year-on-year competitors love - the mountains themselves.
The Preseli Angel gives you the opportunity to ride some of the quietest, most scenic and most challenging roads in Pembrokeshire - if you're not riding the Preseli Mountains, you ain't experiencing the best that Pembrokeshire can offer the sportive rider. If you like stunning views, tough climbs, ah-may-zing descents and quiet back roads, this is the one for you.
Over the coming months these pages will develop as detail is confirmed; you will notice a few "TBC's" below. But be assured - 'number five' will the best Preseli Angel yet!
Outline Detail and Diary Markers:
Provisional Date: Sunday, 6th May 2012.
Location: Start / Finish at The Parrog, Newport, Pembrokeshire.
Facilities: Changing/Showers (TBC), post-event meal (TBC), en-route feedstations.
Course: Brand new! Less wiggly back roads; a more flowing route linking some intriguing climbs and epic descents. Two routes will be offered: 40 miles and 80 miles (actual distances TBC). We will be posting course details here in due course along with our now famous "narrative by a loon"; building a picture in words... too many words, quite frankly. As a teaser:
Out: Ceredigion, fords, confusing loop 1/loop2 interchanges and poor road surfaces (mostly).
In: Fast open roads, new climbs, new views, "proper food" at the feedstops.
