Kent Velo Girls Sportive
07/05/2017 - Hildenborough, Kent - Sportive
Days to go until event: 14
With three distances - 20/40/60 miles to choose from, there is something for everyone. There will be a feed station on each of the routes (two for those doing the 60 mile ride) stocked with water, sports drinks, bananas, savoury snacks, etc, as well as our very popular home-made brownies and flapjacks. Toilets will be available at the Dormansland feed stop (on the 40/60 mile routes).
Short (20miles)- A stunning route through quiet lanes of the Kentish Weald offering scenic views over the charming Kent countryside, with its oast houses, spring lambs and bluebells. This route is suitable for families and cyclists perhaps looking to take part in their first sportive, and requires a reasonable level of fitness to enjoy the rolling nature of the terrain covered.
Medium (40 miles) - A classic scenic ride through the picturesque Weald of Kent, this route is reasonably hilly but all your hard work will be rewarded with stunning views. This route is suitable for cyclists with some experience of sportives who are perhaps looking to challenge themselves further. Good level of fitness required.
Long (60miles) - A varied and beautiful, challenging day in the saddle, this 60 mile ride through the High Weald of Kent leads onto the open heaths of Ashdown Forest. Including the iconic category 4 OFFICIAL 100Climbs No19 Kidds Hill climb, aka "The Wall", there are plenty of climbs to challenge the spring cycling legs and beautiful scenery around every turn to reward your efforts. Good level of fitness essential.
The routes will be clearly signed with marshalls at appropriate points.
GPX files of the routes will be sent out to all riders a week before the event. Mechanical support will be provided with a call out charge of £10.
