2011 UCI Wiggle Magnificat Sportive - Challenges for all ages and abilities!
Sunday 12th June 2011 is the date for 6th edition UCI Wiggle Magnificat which takes place at Newbury Racecourse.
Whatever your riding ability, we have something for you as our ethos is to encourage everyone, and anyone to get on their bikes, get fit and enjoy cycling!
Our event brings together competitive, experienced, club, leisure, and family cyclists; from 6 year olds to seasoned old timers, fast'n fit to leisure paced cyclists, all to experience a fantastic day of cycling.
We are delighted that Wiggle will be title sponsors for our event this year. We also welcome back Torq who will be providing our nutrition and energy supplements. In addition we continue our commitment to raise funds for The Fire Fighters Charity (FFC) and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Charities.
What won't change, because it's so good!
. Our main rides: 127mile MagnifiCat / 81mile InterCat / 51mile CommuniCat across Hampshire and Wiltshire. Our long route takes in the spectacular South Downs.
. Within racecourse grounds: 2.5mile KiddiCat multi-lap sportive - an "adult Sportive in a small package" for the kids and families sponsored by JDRF. This is a must do for all families with kids over 6years - chip timing, bike number, feed station and lap time displays. The more laps you ride the more points earned for your school!
. School cycle activities & competitions: £600 of Wiggle prize vouchers to award.
. Newbury Racecourse HQ: excellent facilities - showers, changing room, bar, on site car-parking; not to mention easy access by rail or road from London, Midlands, South Coast and M5 corridor.
. Volunteer support: from so many willing people - local cycling clubs, colleges, cadet corps, plus our regular supporters. All get thanked by our Charity donations.
. Our high standards of delivery: rider feedback tells us we get this right year-on-year with our no-compromise attention to rider and volunteer safety. By so doing, we have secured our UCI accreditation for 5th year running.
What's growing, because you like it!
. Rider Numbers: our entry limit is 2,000. We had over 1,500 entries last year, so book early to avoid disappointment.
. Motorcycle and rapid response teams: your rider feedback tells us how much you appreciate the rapid response services and friendly help offered when problems do occur. All vehicles and motorcycles carry GPS Trackers. This means our incident team can co-ordinate responses accurately to provide strong support throughout your ride.
. HQ activity and family involvement: we are offering family package deals to encourage our sportive riders to bring their partner and/or families along to have a great day out.
. School involvement: we continue working with Local Councils and British Cycling to encourage kids and teenagers to enjoy cycling, ride safely, and have fun on a bike.
. Community involvement: we have great Charity challenge packages to encourage organisations and their employees to enter teams, get fit, have fun and raise funds for Charity at the same time. Last year over £17,000 was raised to help Charities.
What's new for 2011:
1. Get Training with Andy Cook: 'Beginner', 'Intermediate' and 'Expert' Plans providing a structured daily 12 week programme to get you into the best possible shape for your ride.
2. CoolCat Go-Ride Racing: sponsored and run by British Cycling for 11-14 year old teenagers.
3. CoolCat Wattbike Challenge: individual and team static bike time trial challenges.
4. HQ Main Arena: all cycle rides, activities and competitions start and finish in the main arena. Plus more activities all about the bike and having fun!
