A CHANCE TO RIDE WITH TOP UK PROS
Complete your season with a late autumn charity ride in the beautiful northern dales in aid of Cancer Research. This year the aim is to raise even more with the 2011 Colomba Chemo Classic on Saturday, 12 November 2011.
BORN OF HOPE AND DETERMINATION
The ride was set up to celebrate 19 year old Rob Knibbs' successful battle against Hodgkins Lymphoma and as a fundraiser to try and help others who may be fighting similar illnesses. The route takes in some of the finest scenery in the Yorkshire Dales along with some challenging weather conditions to boot. Everyone who took part ended the day looking slightly weathered but satisfied with only a handful of riders opting to take advantage of the support vehicles to take them home early.
END OF SEASON HIGH
To avoid disappointing anyone by making it any easier this year the same route will be used, but the organisers hope to see more entrants raise even more money for Cancer Research. Entry is now open and the entry fee remains at £15 with proceeds going to Cancer Research and all entrants will be eligible for a £15 discount on a Colomba Sportwool jersey.
The ride is suitable for all abilities as indicated by the number of first time Sportive riders who finished last year. In brief the route starts in Richmond and follows the dales up through Leyburn, Middleham and Coverdale, going down Park Rash and back round through Kettlewell, past Aysgarth Falls to Reeth where there is a choice of an easy or hard route back to Richmond. The detailed route is on the website and mapmyride. The HQ is the delightful Georgian town of Richmond.
