- For me, when it comes to sportives, I do not look at whether I had a "completion jersey" or not. I do it because of the love on the sport, the desire to win, and the ability to push my limits. It is never about a jersey, and if it is, it must be tired to a bigger goal, because I am able to purchase a jersey any time I want. Know what you are working for, and be sure it is not for something ephemeral.

If this was your first sportive don't be discouraged! This was my 14th sportive this year and in my humble opinion, at the price,,was a poor imitation. I wouldn't want to discourage anyone from organising an event nor discourage those that give up their time to make it work but there was a lot wrong with this event that could have been easily avoided. Some of the points have already been covered in the reviews of this and previous events from this location but it seems lessons aren't being learned I will write to the organisers with a more detailed review. If you're from the East Mids checkout ITP Events and definitely the Belvoir Blast for a better experience.

Very poor signage. Food stations empty when we got there, and no energy drinks, only water. No refreshment at the end, and the café was closing. Riders still finishing after everything had been packed away, even the finish arch was packed away. Quite disappointed, this was my first sportive. A medal would have been nice.

Comments from my pack and others who we spoke to was that it would have been great to have had a jersey on completion instead of water and energy gel and would have been happy to have paid a little more for it. There was one feed station which fortunately we stopped at as we were mmisinformed by being told that there was one at 35 miles. Also on the finish line it would have been good to have had some form of commentary. Other than these comments the event and location was great.

Look at other sportive so how they are run. Use village halls etc for feed stations where the facilities are better

We were not the fastest riders but when you put on an event you should cater for all and make sure that the facilities are there for both the first and the last rider.

I would not do it again. The route was great, and the signage perfect, but the provisions along the route were poor (only water after 19 miles), the so-called meal at the end was a poor snack, and therefore the event (basically only the route itself) was not worth 30 pounds.

Well organised. Well supported for a 1st event. Goody bag was excellent.
Only negative was the gpx file wasnt great and was at odds with route signs on a few occasions leading you to not trust the gpx fully. As one of the first dozen past scampton the route sign had been turned so a few of us carried on towards Gainsborough instead of making the turn. Due to the gpx file being incorrect earlier in the ride we followed the sign as before only to realise we had gone several miles in the wrong direction.
Apart from that was a very enjoyable route.

A well organised event based at beautiful DoddIngton Hall. Excellent facilities including the Giant bike shop and cafe. Well worth going to if you're on a bike ride l and want to stop for a refuel. As far as I'm aware this was a first time event. Hope it returns next year as I look forward to doing it again.
