Wiggle Wild Edric 2012
20/05/2012 - Bishop's Castle, Shropshire - Sportive
Rating:
Set amongst the historic lands of Lord Edric, the Wiggle Wild Edric sportive takes riders on grand tour around Shropshire and the Welsh Marches. Just like Lord Edric, riders encounter some stiff challenges in the form of rugged hill's such as Long Mynd, Long Mountain and additionally on the long route option, Kerri Hill. Shropshire is geologically unique and ensures that not only is the landscape unique, the cycling is too! We've made improvements and some subtle changes to our routes for 2012 but we've kept in the long but shallow climbs and rewarding descents which define Wiggle Wild Edric.
Why you must ride 'Wild Edric'! - the area around Bishop's Castle is known locally as 'Little Switzerland' and for good reason! The best vantage point to understand this, is from the top of Long Mynd which is the first climb. Wiggle Wild Edric routes have been carefully designed to test rider's abilities in specific sections from long, shallow climbs, flat cruising, steep ascents and fast sections. Shropshire itself is known as the 'secret county' because it is so beautiful yet quite undiscovered; but Wiggle Wild Edric is no secret at all and fast becoming a very popular sportive in the calendar. For the 3rd year running, we're delighted to welcome Wiggle as our primary partner again - the UK's official number 1 online bike retailer. By riding Wiggle Wild Edric, you are also helping us to raise awareness and create sponsorship opportunities for our 2012 charity partner, Cancer Research UK. Cancer Research UK are the World's leading cancer charity.
