Le Tour De Bolton Cycle Sportive
24/09/2017 - Bolton - Sportive
Weeks to go until event: less than 22 weeks
There are two routes to choose from, 35 and 60 miles. The longer route takes in the infamous Rake and Crown Point climbs but both routes take in Sheep House and Anglezarke climbs so there is no escape. Both routes take you through some typical Lancashire countryside and mill towns. The views are wild and beautiful. There is a food stop on the long route which is well needed at the half way point. Here you can refuel before you tackle the last few climbs of the day. It is a great, challenging event where everyone comes back for more. There is hot food at the finish line included within your entry.
Free parking will be on the day and registration will take place at the school and leisure centre. Whilst the route is marked/signed, the roads are not closed and you will be required to follows the rules of the road, stopping at junctions and traffic lights on the course. This is a non-competitive 'cycle challenge' event and you can start any time between 8:30am and 10:30am. At registration you will be given a timing chip which is attached to your bike. As you roll across the start line your personal timing will start and then finish as you reach the finish line.
On the morning of the event the Eagley brass band from Bolton (http://www.eagleyband.co.uk/) will be playing live to entertain riders as you prepare for the challenge!
There are 2 route options and distances on the day (please note that cycle helmets are compulsory for either route):
1. It'll Be Reet (35 miles)
2. Ecky Thump (60 miles)
