Top organisation from kilotogo, Britains front-running cyclosportive organisers. Detailed interactive Googlemaps, GPX files to download to you GPS or mapping software, on-line registration as well as postal, decent event HQ with good access, parking and changing, electronic timing, rider support etc etc. 2 hilly and challenging routes with feed-stations at 33 and 66 miles if you opt for the long route. Definately a hilly challenge ride through genuinely some of the most glorious countryside. Very little traffic and lots of why-dont-I-live-here? villages. Major climbs include Asterton Bank (The Long Mynd).
The long ride option is marginally under 100 miles but by the time riders have wobbled and zig-zagged up some of the hills in these parts cycle computers are likely to tip over the 100 mark. There are two feedstations at near to 33 and 66 miles into the ride and you are strongly advised to make use of them by taking on food and liquid.
Who is Wild Edric? Well this part of Shropshire and the Marches is rich in ancient folklore and thats where Wild Edric comes from. His existance is well documented but these days he is almost forgotten And that, in a nutshell, is the tragedy of Edric the Wild. Shropshires very own version of Hereward the Wake was once famous throughout the land as the scourge of the invading Normans but nowadays, much like the ancient path that bears his name, he is largely forgotten.
