The harder side of Wrynose Pass - the East side

Try and recover in the Duddon Valley before the sheer of terror of the "East Side of Hardknott Pass" hits the you a sheer wall after over 65 kilometres.

The east side is a totally different challenge than the west side.

Cyclosport, comments "The East Side is technically more difficult than the West. Its got gradients of 20-30% the whole way up - no respite.

100% concentration and impecable bike handling skills will see you to the top, without getting off - or coming off! With sheep, walkers and the odd car thrown in - this is one hell of challenge".

Seriously, this is not for the faint hearted, only for experienced Sportivers. See you there, if you dare. Youll never forget this, no matter how you fare."

The more technically diffcult East side of Hardknott Pass

After the ascent, you have the even more technical descent down the "West Side". Bring new brake blocks or a spare pair!

Through the most impressive valley towards Cockley Beck, Boot to Eskdale.

Turning south over Birker moor into the Duddon valley, major climb to Broughton Mills,Lowick common, south end Coniston lake, over hill to Oxen Park,up what will be the toughest hill of the day, the dreaded Bigland hill ahhhhh!!, Lindale, Levens and back to Dallam.

2 feed stations will be available at 30 miles and 60 miles to keep you going.
