The Preseli Angel is a cycling event which takes advantage of the quiet roads, varied terrain and spectacular coastal scenery in the North Pembrokeshire Preseli region and the lower Teifi River valley. The It is a 2 loop event of 47 plus 39 miles (75 & 62 Km) to suit early season fitness levels and also provide a natural progression to the Tour of Pembrokeshire and Merlin rides later in the year.The 1st loop begins with a warming climb after 5 miles followed by a rolling route with spectacular sea views. The 2nd loop has 4 challenging climbs circling Carningli [ the mountain of angels in welsh-hence the title]. The event is co-organised by the Newport Bay Spring Festival Society and the Cardigan based Velo Teifi and proceeds from the event will be split between these two non-profit organisations. The Cyclo-Sportive will be held in the middle of the Newport Bay Spring Festival, now in its 8th year, so there is an abundance of other events and activities to engage competitors and anyone who joins them. For example, on Saturday the 1st there is a multi-sport event comprising a kayak race early am, a mountain bike race at noon and a 10k run at 3.30pm-these can be entered individually or all 3 for an overall competition. Other outdoor activities include numerous themed walks,a kids/mini multi-sport event running over the 3 days and a themed day at the beach featuring Newports fantastic long sandy beach.
