Location: Henley on Thames

Chiltern Challenge 2010 returns for a third successful year and the organisers are expecting to raise the bar once again for century rides in the Thames Valley. It is open to anyone, teams, pairs, or ride alone, it will be great memorable day out for everyone and you will be helping Action Medical Research to touch yet more lives! There are two circular routes, 100 miles and 100 km starting and finishing near the River Thames in Henley. After making an early start from the Rugby Club, within a couple of miles the routes begin climbing into the Chiltern Hills, so a good warm up before you set off is highly recommended. Both routes pass through idyllic villages like Turville (Vicar of Dibley) before descending the Chiltern Escarpment for a rest stop in the picturesque village of Ewelme. Leaving the toughest of the hills behind, you will then proceed through gently rolling countryside criss-crossing the Thames before stopping for lunch at Wallingford. After lunch, the rides wind their way through the leafy lanes to the Thames crossings at Sonning and just before returning to the start in Henley. Where the routes diverge, there will be ample signage identifying the 2 routes and marshals will be in attendance to help ensure everyone remains on their chosen route. Route details and photos taken on the 2009 event can be found on our website. Full support along the route, refreshments, and a hearty lunch will mean this challenge is more than possible for you. Have you got what it takes? Then what are you waiting for?
