Location: Peak District National Park

KILO TO GO wraps up the UK cyclosportive season with The Tour Of The Peak. Covering some of the same staggering roads as the race of the same name, this Tour is set in the lovely Peak District shared by Derbyshire, Cheshire and West Yorkshire. They say its tough up North and this ride proves the point. Starting from High Peaks flagship leisure facility in Chapel-en-leFrith, the cyclosportive might be new but the Tour of the Peak cycle race has been one of the most long running major races in the UK. We know where most of the best roads are in the Peaks. How? Because, this is our local patch! Run on the Saturday, the following day you can lie in as the clocks switch back to monsoon mode.

Climbs
As you would expect for a ride in the Peak District this challenge is hilly. If you opt for the long route you will experience three of the most revered climbs in the UK. First off is the Macclesfield to Buxton road known as the Cat and Fiddle. This is not a steep climb but it is tough and long - nearly 7 miles in fact. Its on most cyclists checklist to tick-off.

A bit later on the ride we have the notoriously steep Winnats Pass. Not especially long but incredibly steep. Pretty too with its gorge like topography. If you ride this on a Sunday in high summer youll need to keep alert for cars and tourists. Not so on a Saturday in October - just mind the odd sheep!

Holme Moss has been used several times in the Tour of Britain (in its several guises). Its another must do climb. We take you up the twisty steep side and line you up for the long straight fast descent which follows (be careful!)

This ride isnt just about climbs though. You will enjoy some of the most spectacular views and scenery. Stone villages changing colour on the route from gold, to pink, to grey and back to gold again. Whatever you cycling outlook this ride has it all.

Ride profiles, interactive maps, GPX files, videos, secure on-line entry etc etc all available at the KILO TO GO website
