Often featured in Top 5 Late Season sportive lists the Autumn Epic is back to claim its premier spot amongst the increasingly corporate dominated events calendar. Enthusiasts won't let it die and have banded together to run the classic sportive after a one year break.
For a lot of riders their 2016 targets have been ticked off or will be shortly but they don't start the wind down too soon. With a new twist on familiar routes there's a new sportive on the block and it's some block.
Sunday 21st August saw cyclists from across the UK saddle up for the hugely popular Tour de Mon. Glorious sunshine, big crowds and breathtaking views greeted the cyclists as they took on one of the three routes, 107 miles (Mawr), 76 miles (Canol) and 42 miles (Bach).
The White Horse Ridge CX Sportive has a new calendar slot for 2016 to take advantage of late summer conditions. The event launched in November in 2015, but moves to a new date on Sept 25th this year, which should mean warmer weather and nice dry trails!.
The Henley Highwayman Sportive on September 17th will run side by side with the return of the Team GB Olympic rowing medalists to the famous regatta town. The Highwayman Sportive starts and finishes in the town's beautiful Market Square, where, after the phenomenal GB success in the Olympic rowing events, the town now plans to celebrate the returning heroes too.
