Giant, a leading manufacturer of high quality bicycle equipment, and Taiwan, the Pacific island at the forefront of bicycle production are to become title sponsors of one of the most exciting sportives in Europe: the Mallorca312-Giant-Taiwan.

The agreement has been signed for one year, but with an eye on the future and the potential to increase it. The move represents a huge step forward for the Mallorca312 - which this year will enjoy its sixth edition - in terms of prestige and international promotion, while for Giant and Taiwan it becomes the ideal launch pad in the world of cycle tourism.

Giant have long been at the vanguard of design, innovation and technology, and the company will use its association with the Mallorca312 to further its involvement in women's cycling. Liv - Giant's brand committed to female cyclists with a comprehensive product collection designed specifically for female riders - will be prominent in this during the Mallorca312 in an effort to further promote and develop women's cycling.

For its part, Taiwan - the world's leading country in bicycle manufacturing - is currently immersed in the promotion of cycling as a means of transport in its cities, and of cycle tourism as the best way to get to know each corner of the Pacific Island. For Taiwan, Mallorca is an ideal opportunity to learn from an established cycling destinations.

The sixth edition of the Mallorca312 - Giant - Taiwan will take place on the 25th April 2015, and will once again break all records with over 3,000 riders set to take part in this epic event.

The Mallorca312 is one of the biggest cycling challenges worldwide. It serves up a 312km route around the whole of the island of Mallorca with more than 4,300 meters of climbing. Despite its challenging nature, the Mallorca312 is characterised by a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and also by its close links to international charity, UNICEF.

As in previous editions there is an alternative route, the Mallorca 167 - Bicycle Holidays Max Hürzeler, which consists of 167 kilometers and 2,600 vertical meters in the north of the island. In both routes, cyclists will ride through the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO under the Cultural Landscape category.

Each year the event attracts a star-studded field. In 2014 the guest of honour was five-time Tour de France winner, Miguel Indurain. Also present were former pros Pedro Horrillo, Oscar Pereiro, Joseba Beloki and Oscar Freire.

Indurain took over the coveted number 312 from other esteemed riders such as Fernando Escartin, Joan Horrach and the legendary Irish cyclist, Sean Kelly (who also participated again in the shorter distance.) Kelly was also accompanied by compatriate and winner of the 1987 Giro/ Tour/ World Championships "Triple Crown" - Stephen Roche.

Cyclosport voted the Mallorca312 as one of the Top Five Overseas Sportives. Nick Gregory took on the challenge in 2014. Read his review HERE
