In 2015 ITP Events will be giving amateur cyclists the chance to take part in sportives the day before two of the biggest professional races in the UK - the National Road Race Champs and the International CiCLE Classic.

With participants having the opportunity to ride the same routes that they will watch the pros tackle just 24 hours later, these two weekends - in April and June - are set to be the highlights of the domestic cycling calendar.

The Championship Sportive - Saturday 27 June 2015

Set in the heart historic Lincoln, The Championship Sportive features the closed-road cobbled climb of Michaelgate, Lincoln Cathedral and a finish in Lincoln Castle. Get cheered on by the crowds on Michaelgate and in the grandstand in Castle Square. After 1,295m of climbing in the Lincolnshire Wolds, you might need a shout from family and friends to get you home.

Join over 2,500 riders on Saturday 27 June 2015 at the Championship Sportive, which runs the day before the National Road Race Championship . Recent winners of the title include Mark Cavendish and Team Sky's Sir Bradley Wiggins and Peter Kennaugh, so stick around to watch the pros in action the next day.

Sportive riders will have a choice of four routes that start and finish in Lincoln - 97, 76, 58, or 30 miles - through quiet, picturesque lanes in the Lincolnshire Wolds. The route options mean there is something for everyone, with the 97 mile route providing the toughest challenge (4,240 ft/ 1,305 m of ascent).  All routes finish with the 12% cobbled climb of Michaelgate in the heart of historic Lincoln, giving you the chance to experience the sort of challenge faced by Elite riders the following day.

Take a look at the video of the 2013 edition of the sportive:

The 58 mile is ideally suited to those setting out in the world of sportives. The 30 mile route is almost completely flat and perfectly suited to new riders, although it still includes the Michaelgate climb. All routes except the shortest have feedstations. The icing on the cake for your day out is the Michaelgate climb, which always attracts a crowd to cheer you on to the finish at the bottom of historic Lincoln Cathedral. The cathedral is visible from several points on the route as far as 30 miles away, and there will be signs to help you spot this landmark.

When you enter online there is an option to say a few words about yourself, which will be read out by the commentator on your arrival at the finish. The Championship Sportive is an experience not just for the riders but their family and friends too.  There is a text message service integrated into the chip timing system, so anyone supporting you on the day can be notified of your approximate arrival time on the finishing climb. New for 2015 is the Lincoln Grand Prix Hill climb. More information about this will be released shortly.

The Dare2B Rutland CiCLE Tour - Saturday 25 April 2015

Join over 1,000 riders on Saturday 25 April 2015 at the Dare 2b Rutland CiCLE Tour. Choose from four routes on Rutland's original, biggest and best sportive, all starting at Giant Store Rutland on the picturesque south shore of Rutland Water.

There is something for everyone. Again, the 57 mile route is ideal for those new to sportives, but still hard enough to provide a personal challenge. For completely new riders there is now a 21 mile option which is less hilly than the other routes. The toughest challenges come from 104 mile the 78 mile options, which features the most picturesque lanes and villages the area has to offer.

Taking in not only Rutland but neighbouring Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, the long route has almost 5,000ft of climbing and includes views of Rutland Water, the Vale of Belvoir, Belvoir Castle, Eyebrook Reservoir and the impressive Harringworth Viaduct.  All routes except the shortest have feedstations. The event is affiliated to Hope Against Cancer. Contact them to raise money for cancer research and join their ever growing group of fundraising riders.

Once again there is the option to make a weekend of it, as the next day sees the pros in action as the International CiCLE Classic  takes to the roads. Watch some of the top riders in the UK tackle some of the toughest roads in the area. Entrants will be able to take advantage of several offers from sponsors and supporters, Dare 2b and Giant Store Rutland, who will be running special offers and led rides in the build-up to the event.
