Final Call for Iconic Wiggle Cheshire Cat 2014

by Nick Gregory

As has become the norm in recent years, the start of the sportive season sees thousands of riders heading towards Crewe for the Wiggle Cheshire Cat, and organisers Kilo to Go have issued a final call for riders wanting to take part prior to entries closing on Friday, 14th March.

This is the 8th year of the Wiggle Cheshire Cat, and this year the event will feature a closed road ascent of the infamous Mow Cop Killer Mile climb. The Cat isn't just about Mow Cop though, there's also Gun Hill and Wincle, followed by a wonderful descent into Sutton before heading out to the leafy Cheshire Plain via Jodrell Bank and the infamous telescope.

'The Cat' laps up beautiful yet challenging cycling terrain in Cheshire, from the Peak in the east to the Plain in the west. The Wiggle Cheshire Cat now has three exciting and challenging route options of 100, 75 & 40 miles, starting from The Alexandra Stadium, Crewe.

The short route (40 miles) does not take on the Mow Cop killer mile. However, for the longer two routes the Mow Cop Killer Mile climb starts steep and just keeps getting steeper. Once level with the Cheshire View pub, riders will need to dig deep for the final effort as the gradient ramps up to 25%.

All finishers receive a HIGH5 taster pack, a pro-quality 750ml water bottle, a goodie bag, a finisher's medal and certificate and a short video of the moment they cross the line. As with all Kilo to Go events, the Cheshire Cat will feature electronic timing, event photography, well stocked feed stations, the distinctive hig-vis magenta route signs and mechanical support.
