by Holly Blades

One of Yorkshire's Primer Cycle Sportives, The White Rose Classic is filling up fast with just over 100 entries out of the 1000 places available - so if you are thinking of riding this superb sportive, get your entries in quick before it's full!

Hosted by the UK's largest club, lkley Cycling Club, and firmly established as one of Cyclosportive's 'must-do' events. The White Rose Classic is planned to take place on the 17 June 2012 and is a true classic in every sense of the word.

Taking you through the heart of the breathtaking scenery of Yorkshire Dales, it really is a showcase event for the very best the Dales has to offer. Offering a choice of 3 challenging routes; 110 miles, 84 miles and 50 miles, the routes will be fully signed and each rider will receive a route map.

Electronic timing is being provided by SportIdent with 3 well stocked feed-stations along for the long route, 2 for the medium and 1 for the short.

The epic long route takes in the fearsome climbs of Norwood Edge, Fleet Moss and Garsdale Head, finishing with a final 'sting in the tail' over Langbar. With over 3000m of ascent it really will be a challenge. The medium route is no pushover either at 84 miles and over 2000m of ascent.

The event headquarters will be the fantastic new facility at Ilkley Rugby Club at the edge of Ilkley, providing changing and showering facilities, ample parking, food and drink. At the finish venue there will be a free hot food for every rider, post ride masseur, cake stalls, ice cream vans and other family orientated entertainment along with trade stands - making this event more than just a Sportive and one to be enjoyed by the whole family.

The event will be supported by the Sue Ryder Cancer Care Charity who will receive 10% of the proceeds.
