Caven O'Hara
One of Cyclosport's longest serving writers, Caven has tackled his fair share of epic rides this season including a 300km Audax and the 12 hour Cyclothon event at Brands Hatch...
Wiggle Dragon Ride - Dragon Devil 300km
The new addition to the Dragon Ride collection, the 'Devil' saw more mileage and climbing added to an already challenging route. The attraction for me was the extra distance, up to 300Km with over 4,000m of climbing in one ride - if you're going to break your duck at this distance then this is the event for you.
The scenery was stunning, the climbing more Alpine than UK and the weather was great. The organisation and feed stations were top notch, with plenty of choice including salted potatoes - great towards the end of a long ride! In all you get plenty of everything you'd expect on an epic ride, the Devil's elbow and staircase were worth the entry alone. If you want to pit yourself against one of the biggest challenges in the UK then give this a try.
Wiggle New Forest Spring Sportive
With all the attention that riding in the New Forest attracts I thought I'd go along and see what all the fuss was about. Having never ridden down there before the early start was tinged with anticipation. As you come to expect with Wiggle rides, they are very well organised and slickly run. Out on the roads, there was no fuss that I encountered although it transpired some interference had occurred. This was a shame, given the stunning countryside which was a joy to be out in. The locals I did meet were friendly which made for a relaxed day on some fast terrain. As an early season event this was a great way to start the year.

Tour of Flanders
Because it was a revelation and because it was an introduction to the world of Belgian cycling (and beer) I have to vote the Ronde van Vlaanderen the highlight of my year. 16,000 cyclists taking on the same route as the professionals, with seamless organisation and lots of good humour. And the climbs - tricky, historic, packed - once you've mastered them you'll think you are a true Flandrian cyclist!
Allez Sportive Sharpener
A brilliant course and good organisation made this a great event. A real example how intelligent route design can enhance your sportive experience and bring out your best. The l'Eroica Britannia is also deserving of a mention - a great first year cycling festival celebrating all things vintage.
