REVIEW: dhb Vaeon Roubaix Long Sleeve Jersey Recommended

Price £69.99
Size Medium
Colour Black/White
Great fitting, good looking and a steal and this price.

First impressions of this jersey are very good; it's attractive and fits well and comes in at a cracking price point. I opted for a medium, as I prefer things a bit tighter on top. This is the dhb Roubaix fabric that they claim to be their winter grade performance material.

Panels Are Properly Shaped and Stand Out

The material is the Lombardia Roubaix which is the same stuff they use in the Vaeon Winter Bib Tights. Looking at the jersey panels they seem to be white in the right places and having that white on the cuff enables better visibility for signaling whilst on the road when it is dark. There is some 3M reflective piping and logos for further visibility, which is a nice touch. The cut is right for my long body and the arm length is correctly proportioned.

Good Close Fitted Design

There are three large pockets on the rear, which can comfortably hold all the gubbins and spares you need for a ride with a little sag but nothing too offensive. There is even a neat internal weatherproof pocket that you can keep your mobile phone in, accessed by a zip, it is protected against rain and sweat, which can destroy a phone pretty quickly. It even has a hole through which you can thread an earphone jack so you can internally wire your earphones if you listen to music while you train or commute. Although this is not something we advise but it is there if you should need it. There are some grippers around the waist that stop the jersey moving around too much which is appreciated.

So what's it like to ride in? Well with a short sleeve base layer underneath you would be quite happy to wear this down to about 8 C. It is not a windstopper fabric but its medium weight goes a long way. You will only feel a real difference whilst descending in really cool weather. I use a Cyclosport gilet over the top and this provide me with all the versatility I need for long cold rides. The fabric is fleeced inside and you can happily wear it all day. It's also available in red, if that's your thing.

Rear Jersey Pockets

The collar is cutaway at the voice box area, which is comfortable and clearly created by people who ride bicycles. It is a well-made jersey and has so far stood all that I can throw at it. I'd urge everyone to own one; it really is worth £69.99, in fact it feels like theft it's so reasonable. Don't be a snob about the dhb label; they really do make some garments that genuinely work.
