Entries Flood In for Fourth Annual Shropshire Hills Sportive

by Nick Gregory

Entries for the fourth edition of the increasingly popular Shropshire Hills Sportive, which this year will take place on Sunday, 6th July, are flooding in as riders prepare for the 2014 sportive season. The event, which will once again start and finish on Bridgnorth's historic High Street, takes in some of the best scenery the County has to offer.

Last year the event was oversubscribed, and once again, with numbers limited to a maximum of 600, riders hoping to participate are urged to ensure they enter as soon as possible.

Bridgnorth High Street - closed to traffic for the day - will provide a wonderful back drop to the day's events, with all riders, whether tackling the 50, 70 or 100 mile routes starting and finishing under the now famous Schwalbe arch.

The High street will be filled with both cycling and non-cycling related traders. This year Raleigh will have a full display of their 2014 range, and riders will be able to test ride bikes on the day. Torq are the hydration and nutrition suppliers for the sportive with their products available at the feedstations and in the High Street.

Rich Smith, one of the Directors of Mamil Cycling commented: "by limiting the number of riders to 600 we can ensure everybody gets looked after. We've want to promote an event that whilst challenging, is informal and fun, ensuring each and every rider gets value for money and a great day out on the bike."

In 2012 Cyclosport's Sean Lacey took part, and his review can be found here.
