The Verenti Dragon Ride - New Details Announced

The Dragon Ride is one of our favourites. And judging by its 2009 capacity of 3100 riders, it's pretty popular with the majority of cyclosportive riders. The event will take place on the 6th June 2010. If you're wondering how it became The Verenti Dragon Ride, that's due to sponsorship of a new sportive bike brand, available exclusively from Wiggle.

It was due to be The Kiron Dragon Ride, but due to some minor legal issues over the trademark of 'Kiron', Wiggle have opted for the Verenti name for their brand, which launches in March 2010. But the Dragon Ride event will be known in its own right and has developed a reputation for great organisation and a fantastic route.

Entries open soon on the 28th December, and the organisers have added a new distance option for those who want something a little less taxing than the 190km or 130km rides. New for 2010, is the 40km "Corto" ride, which travels around the beautiful Welsh valleys outside Brigend.

Cyclosport think it would be ideal for those who are just getting into sportives, or for families who want to have a less strenuous ride but still take in the scenery of the ride. The Verenti Dragon Ride is also celebrating receiving the prestigious Gold Standard in 2009.

Sportives are turning more and more into a corporate affair and in testament to this, The Dragon Ride organisers are offering corporate hospitality packages that includes pre-event accommodation, breakfast, pre-ride mechanic checks, priority places, secure bike paring, VIP hospitality and massage. Which is a lot of extras, but that's probably because it's £199.

Standard entries for the longer ride are £30, whereas the shorter 40km ride is priced at £20.

Full details can be found on the Event Calendar as well as on, we look forward to riding.
