Very poor value for £30.00 entry fee. Not enough toilettes at HQ no cup of tea at registration as promised on website. No first feed stop I had to ride 40 miles without water. I was told there was one but nobody saw it. Second feed stop : banana, fruit cake and SAUSAGE ROLLS?!. Energy food out of reach, you had to ask for it, I thought it was for sale. Nothing much happening at the finish and just a bowl of soup and a bread roll. I ride many sportives and I won't be riding this again.

Organisation in the morning for registration was late and felt disorganised, which did not leave one feeling confident of the team's ability to keep us safe or that all the other needs and expectations would be taken care of.

Those who had ridden the event last year waited near the grass to be taken over the start line only to find the start line had changed and positioned behind us outside the hall which was not the most ideal of places to start and just shows the lack of communication. Given the start location when riders returned to Mentmore the majority assumed the finish line would be in the same place (not unusual) only to find it was back round the other side on the grass...

One of our team had a malfunction and despite several calls could not get hold of anyone so rode back to Mentmore not completing the route only to have the mechanic ring an hour later.

Some of the roads and particularly the decent were actually tracks, lots of debris on them and quite dangerous to ride down.

We did not see the first feed station and would suggest when we past it the team were not there. The majority of riders indeed left most of the groups without water until the feed station at 75 miles (10 more than expected). The chaps at the 75 mile feed station suggested we must have missed it, I'd suggest they had not left Mentmore when we did and were not ready to leave for some time and so miss timed their arrival to catch the majority of riders and then did not put up adequate signage.

If the team can set up on time, make sure on busy junctions or fast downhill's there are team about to help and the entry to the start finish line was clearer that would be very helpful.

I hope communication improves for next year, I look forward to receiving some event photo's etc.

I also hope our feedback is helpful to make the event successful next year.

Yours kindly

Jason Horn

Ideal for me as it covers the area in which I live. Fairly traffic free until Ivinghoe area. Route from Dunstable back to Mentmore could be remapped to avoid the B489 as this is busy for a B road especially on sunny Sunday afternoons! However I'll be there again next year. If you think hills in the south are soft you'll be surprised by at least 2 in this event.

Mark Webber was there to sign stuff if that's your thing, so he hasn't just put his name to the event for the PR.

It beats Birmingham to Weston-super-Mare and back which was the last time I rode this sort of distance for pleasure(?)
