Tour de Manc sportive is a not for profit sportive, raising vital funds for registered charities - Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Haematology and Transplant Support (HaTS) and others. We also encourage riders to raise sponsorship for their own great causes, but it isn't mandatory.
The event sold out last year, oversubscribed again ! For 2020 we have 3 distance options to test a wide range of riders.
The "Mad Manc" is our toughest challenge. 200Km and 10,000ft of climbing, which passes through every Borough of Greater Manchester (and a little bit of Lancashire too). It's a 9.5 out of 10 ride.... tackling monster leg burners such as Werneth Low, Rawsons Rake and others.
The "Full Manc" is 100 miles & well over 8500ft of climbing - including several severe tests. which also passes through every Borough of Greater Manchester (and a little bit of Lancashire too). It's a little shorter than the Mad Manc and misses out theree of the Mad Manc Climbs, but it's still an 8 out of 10 ride
The "Half Manc" is a 100km, 4500ft ride follows the Full Manc route until the 50 mile mark and then diverts down the beautiful Ashworth Valley and head back. . A shorter route but still some testing climbs - This is a more manageable 5.5 out of 10.
For all distance options, there are King of the Mountain and Queen of the mountain prizes which will be measured over the Werneth Low Climb, a real leg burner, with iconic views of Manchester as you crest the top. Expect a tough, but an enjoyable ride with varied terrain as you skirt Manchester, cross Cheshire, skirt the edge of the Peak District, the slopes of the Pennines and the rolling hills of North Manchester. Expect to see some amazing scenery and hidden gems and enjoy great camaraderie.
We will supply 4 drink stops (3 on the Half Manc) with free energy gels, energy drinks (our sports drinks and gels are supplied by Secret-Training), energy rich food, we will have mechanic stations, motorcycle marshals and first aid cover.
It's a long day and post ride, as well as your finisher's medal, we will provide free hot drinks, baked goods, complimentary massages to help with your weary legs and some free photos of your ride ....there's one or two other surprises as well.
Riders can sign on on 2nd May and have their safety briefing then too. This avoids the queuing for Rider packs on the Sunday and facilitates a quick start. Riders are welcome use the David Lloyd club facilities too on the Saturday and Sunday. The ride starts and finishes at the club too, so why not make a day of it.
Tour de Manc are a not for profit company with no paid employees...all monies raised (less essential costs such as insurance) go to registered charities.
