My first time at this event. Exceptional feed station. Deceptively easy first half with a sting of a hill around 42 miles! Simple signage, maybe an occasional arrow on long sections between turnings. Well organised & very lucky with the weather.

Great route , well organised but whoever decided to place the 18% gradient hill at 42 miles is very harsh. Overall was impressed with the organisation and the feed station was well stocked with good choice of snacks. Feed station could have been better signed though as there was some confusion with several riders unsure of whether it was feed station or not.

Loved it. Will do it again to conquer the killer Awliscombe Hill!

Would have liked an A4 map available for souvenir.

Would like to see:

A 2nd food stop on the Dakota.
Free tea and coffee at the start/finish.

The website and pre-ride brief specify that this is not a race, yet medals are granted according to your time... Seems contrary.

Also, the website mentions every rider finishing gets a t-shirt and medal, but if you finish outside the bronze time you don't get a medal. Maybe need to remove this from the webpage.

Good event, well done

having done the Tour de Yorkshire the previous week, the Taunton Flyer was much more pleasant to ride in. Much less busy and commercial (which I prefer) I'd specifically say how much better the feed stop was.

This was my first sportive and very enjoyable overall. One suggestion I have is the hill that was at around 41 miles on Dakota ride whilst ok for the top 20% was to hard for the majority and very off putting when you view people walking and has the road being so narrow and therefore hard to navigate around them. Perhaps consider an alternate route that cyclists could take that was less climb or evelation but longer in distance to allow them a choice but Carly's a penalty? Only an idea but fantastic day and we'll run overal.

I really enjoyed the Sportive but what I have noticed is that many of our Sportive's are made to be to hard with some very big hills. I suffer with a chronic back condition and some of the hills on our rides are just to long and steep. It would be great if there could be more rides with approximately 1500 ft of climbing over a distance of say 35 miles.

Looking at the results and medal categories there is a big difference in the percentage of men and women achieving each standard. A case for relaxation of the standards for women maybe? I was also surprised to see that it is necessary to cycle faster in the longer event to get the same standard!
