Great course and perfectly signed. But disappointing that there was no tea/coffee or savouries on the route and very disappointing to have no hot food or goody bag at the end.

Definitely not what was advertised and what I paid our £29 for. Still, with that expectation you would have a good day if you did this event.

Course excellent and a tough set of hills. Generally friendly staff. No queue at start.
Parking easy. First feed station a shambles...long long wait!
£30 - post ride "bean goulash" (excellent last year) morphed to green watery stuff with 5 or 6 pearl barley. generous goody bag = water bottle, sachet moisturiser and 2 adverts.
But back to ....course excellent and a challenge.

it's a good event and very challenging. i'd certainly consider doing again but i'd probably start a bit later and get some serious hills in beforehand

Good event, really enjoy riding in this area and have ridden this 3 times, 2008, 2010 and 2012. i have to say unlike a fine wine it has not improved with age.
Still a good route however feed stations were a bit limited and only had bananas and fruitcake , i remember in 2010 there was a fantastic spread / variety of food which really helps keep you going for the last 30 miles.
i feel £30 is quite expensive and atthe high end of sportive fees , maybe wrongly, expected more for this sort of entry fee
a very minor thing but goody bag was ...well not very 'goody' and with the support but no doubt i will be back next year.

The new show ground venue (previously Chippenham mead) made for easy free car parking.
The route began with a ride through the arch of the fortified Monnow bridge in Monmouth and the final climb was up and over Symonds Yat. The identification and serial signing of the 18 named climbs was a constant incentive. Great venue for a memorable ride. Well done!

A very nice route, with good directions and the numbering of each big climb helps get you to the end. The food stops are the thing that really lets it down, 1 toilet for 500 riders at the first stop is unacceptable. If you want a master class on food stops visit the cotswold spring classic event.

Great course, well designed, you can't go wrong with this course though. Its very tough with loads of climbing. However in this crowded market you cannot rely on being a "classic". High cost, poor goody bag and average food at the end, not enough choice of food to buy at the start, and finally the first food stop was poorly organised with both feed stops not having enough savoury items. Its a tough market with plenty of events out there now, you have to bring it all to the party to survive!!

No medal, poor goody bag, poor food after event. These are not the main things and do not spoil the day. However, they are the little 'extras' which makes an event stand out in what is now a very crowded marketplace.

A really tough, but enjoyable 89 miles with all the 18 climbs numbered so you know exactly where you are and how to pace yourself. Beautiful countryside and a really cleverly worked out route made this one of the best sportives I've done. Great food at the foodstops, although latecomers missed out because there weren't quite enough savoury snacks. Parking and facilities could be better.

Superb HQ and great signage on the course. The route itself is the best attraction, hard though it is. The options to bail and cut short the ride was also a good idea. The chance to meet Steve ROOKS was also pretty damn good too.

The route planning was meticulous and the climbing was relatively tough. The scenery was so enjoyable that there was always time for one more pedal push. The presence of outriders was quite calming and for sure no one rode alone! I found climb 1 misplaced as the road was almost a single lane with no room for both vehicles and bikes. The feed station were well stocked and the staff was friendly.Generally, it was a very enjoyable day.

This was a tough but beautiful course on quiet roads made more difficult by windy conditions and heavy rain overnight which brought down a lot of mud & gravel etc onto the road resulting in many punctures. This was possibly the best organised of the sportives I have attended. Quick sign on, no waiting at the start, excellent signage and hot food at the finish ! I would like to have seen split times but appreciate that this costs money. Well done !!

Good event, lots of hard climbs and well planned in such a small geographical area. Nice having indoor feedstops given bleak and cold conditions. Some poor road surfaces but these were well signed beforehand and didn`t detract from event. Good scenic area too, if only all the bluebells had been out as well!! Good car parking and marshalling at start in Monmouth too; welcome warm food afterwards.

Much better than last year, even with worse weather, but still very tough. Some of the worst roads I've ever cycled on, but overall excellent signage, good feed stops and very welcome hot food at the finish. A great early season test.

Overall a good event - very tough and challenging course with some stiff climbs....only gripes on the course were some of the descents on narrow gravel covered roads were quite dicey. Signage was good though km markers massively inaccurate....30 kms to go sign when I had less than 10 miles left on my computer - this needs sorting as its tough mentally if you don't know how far there is left to go. Sounds like some of the later starters had some issues with the feed stops - cake was good and starting early had no problems. Good challenge and a good measure of your fitness early season.
