06/04/2013 - Chalfont St Peter, Bucks - Audax

Rating: 92.1% based on 15 reviews - Rate this Event Now

From just west of London at Chalfont St Peter, it goes across the Chilterns, the eastern edge of the Berkshire Downs and over the Hampshire Downs at White Hill. With the ups mainly out of the way, it's a flat and scenic run along the Test Valley and across the New Forest to Fordingbridge and, then back again by a different, gentler route.

The fact that the return route has a following prevailing wind and the last 60k is fairly flat makes this a good first 300K and also makes it reasonably easy for fixies.

Breakfast is included in the price and refreshments/light meals are available at the end with cafe/convenience store controls in between at Pangbourne, Kimbridge near Romsey, Fordingbridge, Alresford and Winnersh.

For any experienced rider new to Audaxing, the Newbie Guide at http://iansaudax.blogspot.co.uk aims to remove some of the mystery of Audax.

Entry is £6.50 for AUK and CTC members, £8.50 inc. third party insurance for others. Non-UK residents must carry their own third party insurance and offer proof of cover. The insurance does not cover your own loss or injury.

Final routesheets and GPX emailed around two weeks in advance, with late entrants getting theirs soon after entry, but in advance of the ride.
