This event is exactly what a sportive should be about. Fantastically well organised from start to finish and staffed by so many enthusiastic people it made those big climbs a (sort of!) pleasure to ride. Other cycling clubs should follow the Glossop Kinder Velo lead and organise rides to showcase their club and local roads. If I lived in the area I'd definitely join them. The route is tough but well balanced with the feed stops being ideally located.

This is the 4th time I've ridden this. As usual well organised and a great day. Thanks Glossop Kinder Velo! I also liked the diversions, they added some variety to the route.

Great day out, very friendly and extremely well organised event. The route was both scenic and very challenging - (one or two ups and downs), very well marshalled and supported. Will be signing up next year, and recommend anyone who likes the slopes to join in.
Thanks to all who donated their time to run such a great cycling test.

First Sportive so nothing to compare with, but if they are all like this one, that's great. It was a windy route, signage was spot on and flag wavers were at the dodgy places. Plenty of flapjack at feed points, so what's not to like apart from the hills in between.

This was my first ever Spotive and it won't be my last. Had a wonderful day, the event was very well organised and all the officials were very helpful toward my questions. The signage on the course was first class as was the feed station, the course was very scenic but with a few tough climbs. Well done to everyone at Glossop Kinder Velo see you again next year.

Second time back - great organisation and support with a beautifully challenging route on mostly quiet roads - what more could you want?

On a day which was 25+ degrees Celsius the organisers showed great foresight to put up an intermediate feed station just to see people over the Strines.

Thanks to everyone involved for such an enjoyable event, I'll hopefully return next year for a third

Aside from a couple of arrogant/rude idiots (who clearly thought this was a race, that they were Eddie Merckx and that someone would go round and pick up their discarded gel wrappers and bottles - grrrr!!!) and the suicidal bikers who were out in force, this was great - truly fantastic organisation, really great marshals and lovely scenery - and the hog roast at the end was just bliss :)

Absolutely loved it again. The impromptu food stop on the Whole route was great as we thought we'd only get 2. Maybe add the signs with hogs on for a couple of the climbs after Cement Works but that is really minor.

See you next year.

I've only been on a handful of sportives, but in terms of friendliness and signage (and bloody 'ard climbing!!!) this was by far the best.

It was a great single day event - and I really don't think could have been improved on; even the price was low compared to many others - and included a Hog Roast with veggie option.

Many thanks to the wonderful Hog Team - a real credit to the Glossop Velo club.

My only request - and I realise it's asking far too much of those volunteering their time - is to make it a weekend cycling festival. Add in a few stalls from the manufacturers, another route for the second day - perhaps a flatter/ish cheshire option - & a bit of local music perhaps. But this is all for an ideal world - one where we don't have jobs and family lives. Outside of such a cycling heaven the Hog is as good as it could be - and all due to the dedication and huge efforts of the support team. Many thanks to them all. Kevin
