Join us for a very special "UK First" track cycling event "Le Manc 24 Hours" at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester on the weekend of November 8th/9th 2014.
16 teams will take to the boards of the Manchester Velodrome to challenge themselves and see who can cover the greatest distance within 24 hours. Many of these teams will be using the opportunity to raise funds for charities and we expect to see a mixture of corporate teams, cycling clubs and charities taking part.
"Le Manc 24 Hours" will have the buzz and excitement of its French namesake, but indoors on the track. The pressure will be on to complete as many laps of the 250 metre track as possible, cycling through the night to fulfil the challenge.
As you will be part of a team, you can share the load of the effort between all of the team. Each rider will be expected to complete at least 3 hours of riding over the course of the 24 hours, so everyone is doing a fair share of the challenge, however you may wish to ride 15 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour or whatever each at a time, so that you can keep the overall team speed up and complete as many laps as possible. Team strategy is as crucial in this event as actual physical strength and endurance. Concentration during the 24 hours will also be important as tiredness will set in unless you get the right amount of rest between each of your stints on the track.
The very first Le Manc 24 Hours will be a fantastic cycling event and demand for places in this event is bound to be very high, especially with there only being 16 team places available.
Le Manc 24 ambassador and twice British National Track Champion, Dame Sarah Storey gives us her thoughts on the very first Le Manc 2014:
"Don't miss out on this unique challenge to spend 24 hours clocking up as much distance as possible alongside your team. The Manchester Velodrome is an iconic venue and this event will provide the participants with another chance to create history inside a building that has already seen so many records established and broken."
