This was my fourth century ride and by far the biggest let down of them all. The route itself was very hilly (I thought Essex was flat??) and the refreshment stops were a disgrace! I thought we paid a higher entry fee to cover the cost of these? The first food station was 40 miles in which to me is too far and the second was around 80 miles but by the time we got there they had no food left. If I had known it would be like this I would have carried more of my own supplies. Also, there are no toilet facilities along the way, I finally gave in to my tummy ache and fit to burst bladder at 90 miles and watered the stinging nettles in a farmers field, which was not very lady like!!!

This is the third time I've completed the event, and enjoy the route - I always forget how undulating the second half of the course can be.

Echoing the previous comment, the foodstops were disappointing. I appreciate that it's a charity event and it aims to reduce its costs/expenditure on energy drinks but I believe one stop was not set up (the Nags Head pub?) - which was frustrating given that I planned to pick up more water here.

A suggestion for next year would be include approximate milages on the route card to give people an idea of how far they need to go before the next turn/stop/roundabout ?

All marshalls and staff at HQ were very friendly and I thought the course marking was superb.

Overall I really enjoyed the ride, but the food stops let it down.

This event was spoilt for me by the lack of food/refreshment stops. There were only 2 which were placed about every 40+ miles. The route was quite nice, but there were quite a lot of main roads used (A & B class). The route card was good, but the map was very poor. There was a missing sign in Thaxted which caused some problems for some riders who missed the turning. It would be nice if all the distances were made into sportives. Not sure if I'd do it again, it would have to improve considerably for me to consider it.
