Ulverston á l'ancienne - the Lake District Vintage Cycling Festival! Based in the South lakes market town of Ulverston, we're building this event to be much more than just a sportive. We want to build an event which is truly special, where the experience, socialising, place and people are just as important as the ride! Set alongside the Traditional Music Festival, we want á l'ancienne to become part of a growing, broad based vintage weekend. Based at the delightful Ford Park House, there will be basic camping and motor home parking on site, with masses of great accommodation, food and music close to hand. We've designed the event to encourage you to bring friends and family and stay for the weekend - so this is how it looks: Saturday July 12 Heritage & Family A potter around Furness with a rest and feed in the village of Gleaston. Quiet roads, lovely scenery and only a few short climbs with nothing too steep! Fully signposted with Marshals to guide you on the tricky junctions. This is a great way to introduce the family to cycling events. Under 14's go free. 23km long, and 268m of climbing. £17. Registration for this even opens January 6th 2014. Sunday July 13 Le Rouleur The shorter of the Ancienne routes; but still a proper ride when you're on an old steel bike with limited gears! We've tried to mix local moorland with classic Lake District scenery and the coastal view to provide a route which is fun and fabulous. Fully signposted with difficult junctions marshalled. One feeding station. 49km, 796m climb. £37. Le Grimpeur Fancy an Old School Challenge? This is the one! Hard enough to feel like you've been tested; but far from brutal. Quiet country lanes, classic local climbs and a stretch on the 'route gravier' of Grizedale Forest. Fully Signposted, tricky junctions marshalled and two feeding stations. 71km, 1482m of climbing and 9km of 'route gravier' in Grizedale Forest. £42. Early Booking Discounts on both Sunday routes - so hurry!
