It also helps that I live locally & train on sections of thr rt. I have spread the news on this event to mates in other parts of country, and we can have up to 20 gathering for beers afterwards

Fantastic! As the youngest rider I loved cycling with other cyclists who encouraged me, and really enjoyed overtaking some of them up the hills. The last few miles were quite tough but I will definitely be doing it again!

Overall rating under values my views on this outstanding event and its excellent organisation. The arrangements at the Shrivenham start and finish were amazingly good and cannot be praised enough. Registration, collection of timer strip, medal, t-shirt and the refreshments and tea were perfect. One junction wasn't signed properly. Shrivenham is a bit small so inevitably there will be parking problems. I really enjoyed it - although there were one or two hills on the course that I rather struggled with! I don't know what you mean by 'timing' so rated it as '5'

I have ridden this event every year for the last 5 years and it continues to be one of the best events in the calendar. Exceptionally slick in organisation, tremendously friendly people and participants and a beautiful but not too demanding course, as befits the time of year (April). Always good weather too. The scenery is fantastic and the climbs will test your legs, with the King of the Hill a nice touch on Dragon Hill. Should be on your "must ride" list. One of my blog posts about the event is here:

This is the fourth time i have done this event, great for the start of the season and one of my favourites. Brilliant organisation, keep you informed in run up to the event and on the day and really friendly helpful team. Most of course is on very quiet country roads if a little exposed to the elements, only one part of route on a main road to but it is up one of the white horses. Shame a temporary diversion spoilt the run in which is again my favourite 6-8miles mostly decline to the finish line.

Done it 4 times always enjoy the ride and the facilities have improved in the time I have been doing it. The feed stations are much better now. Could do with maybe more toilets at the second feed station.
