Fantastic! Wiggle back to their best; this is what sportives are all about, as far as I'm concerned. After the shambolic New Forest debacle, I'd attended a couple of non-Wiggle events in silent protest (with mixed experiences, I have to say), but the Magnificat has restored my faith in Wiggle completely. A great course with just a few bad roads (so many punctures in the first 10 miles, they ran out of inner tubes at the 1st food station!); excellent support - especially the additional station added late because of the hot weather. Just over 5000' of climbing was more than advertised - a new PB for me - but unlike Reading, I didn't have to walk any of it. :-)
To be honest, the only vaguely negative comment I had on the day was the car park organisation; it took me half an hour to get through Newbury and into the racecourse! A small price to pay....
Thanks Wiggle, more of the same, please!

Standard route could do with one more hill in the middle somewhere to break things up. Lack of any intermediate timings a negative and results in pdf only seems a bit strict (although I know why this is done). Plenty of signs but would be better if they were bigger and brighter.

1st wiggle ride, great event well organised, plenty of signage on route, Wiggle responded to the weather(2nd hottest day of the year) by adding two extra water stations on the last 1/4 of the course and boy they were needed, tough ride made harder by the weather

The event gets better every year. I live locally so the route is known but never underestimated!

Volunteers and organisers did a great job on such a hot day. After the rain and cold of past two years they deserved a day like yesterday. Roll on 2014!

Good event, well organised, excellent venue, good course. Pity about the weather, the organisers and us riders deserved better!

Appalling conditions dampened the atmosphere somewhat, I felt: but all the more thanks, therefore, to the organisers for putting on such a good event.

A big thank you to all the volunteers who gave up there Sunday on such a terrible day. The feed station were great, really well stocked, however the biggest let down especially on such a cold awful day was not food and drink at the end.

Well done Ken and Barbara. You and your team did another great job! I'm very surprised to see some of the negative comments on here. Some of them are ridiculous. That said, the good outweighs the bad, so that's the main thing!
Crikey, it was a wet one wasn't it! I don't think I've ever cycled in such constant rain.
I shall be back again next year!
Cheers

Best sportive I have ridden this year. Great signs, food, course, day. 204.5km is a really good test and feel it has set me up for the summer now. Great job to the organisers and people on the course.

exemplary organisation ... enjoyable route and impressive level of support. have now completed 8 sportives and this ranks as amongst best if not the best in terms of the organisation. definately one for next years calendar

Best Sprotive we have ridden this year. Well organised; excellent facilities and a lovely route. Maybe 1 more feed stop (on the 81 mile course) would have been useful - The Wiggle series have just about got it right (bananas, flapjacks, water, High5 and jellybeans!), at the right distances. The racecourse makes an ideal start/finish location.

I made the probably reckless decision to do the Magnificat 127 mile ride on the day after the Northern Rock Cyclone. This is a rather testing ride, even under the best of circumstances, which mine were not. Although there are no monumental climbs, the short-to-medium climbs are relentless. Some of the most draining parts of the ride are the rolling hills in the middle of the ride that are barely visible on elevation profiles. The route passes through countless bucolic villages, wooded country lanes, and exposed hill-tops. Much of the route is on very narrow roads, often with poor surfaces and almost invariably with lines of loose gravel, looking for the slightest sign of weakness in your tyres. Lots of stops and street crossings, and many close encounters with cars on the single track roads. The 5 stops were well appreciated. Torq energy drink was good; food supplies were uninspiring. Race HQ at Newbury Racecourse was very good - ample space and excellent organization. And toilet facilities at the start and at all the stops were welcome - why don't more rides get this key need right! This event seems to have a higher proportion of more competitive types and less of a fun atmosphere than the Cyclone. Probably appropriate, given the deceptively tough course.

I LOVED THE EVENT! Never ridden 80 miles before and this was a great event to have experienced my first ever 80. Thought it was great that I could come down and enter on Saturday - for me being my first sportive it took some of the pressure off for me when arriving on Sunday - all I needed to do was get myself ready and go ...... will definitely recommend to others and be back next year - perhaps for the longer one next time :o) THANK YOU!
