There have been numerous cycle rides that have navigated their way down through Wales over the years, but none more challenging that the 206 mile Wales Coast to Coast Challenge.

The ride starts at Caernarfon on 18th July.

The route has three distinct sections, with the first 85 miles involving the hardest climbs of the ride at Penmachno and the road out of Dolgellau.  This is a demanding section with some unclassified mountain roads and long sweeping B class mountain roads down to Bala.

The second section from Mallwyd to Lampeter will also be challenging, especially as fatigue starts to crawl into the riders.  From Mallwyd there is approximately 20 miles of A class roads where riders can spin along easily. However, upon turning on to the unclassified road for Nant y moch riders will face a long climb of 7% average for several miles. Following this is a terrific road to enjoy to Devils Bridge and Aberystwyth before hitting the final section - homeward bound!

This final section from Lampeter starts off with a significant climb for several miles and continues to provide a mixture of descent and climbing until riders reach Llandovery.  At this point many will be riding in the dark, however, the last 25 miles is on a wide flat A class road to finish with little prospect of navigational error.
