The classic route of 63 miles contains a mix of all the terrain and road types that you will find in Hampshire and the New Forest using mostly quiet lanes but a couple of unavoidable, albeit short, sections on a busier A road. The climbs are short as is normal in this part of the world with some steeper than others and come well spaced through the route. The ride across the open heathland of the New Forest is lovely and can be tough because of the head winds.
