Quite possibly the best event in the country. Superbly well organised and the food at the event was terrific... and all at a very reasonable price. The course is a pukka 100 miler and provides a rigorous test. When compared to some of the money-grubbing corporate organised events it beats them hands down - a must do event in my books.

Loved the mass start with the roll-out throught the town. Great countryside and great marshalling. Good food.

I've now done all the Laidlaws and every year it is outstanding - very friendly, plenty of food and well organised with a superb route no matter which way around it goes. Highly recommend it to anyone and this years weather was nigh on perfect. Thanks to Hamish and the team again.

Great day out at the KL sportive in the beautiful Scottish Borders. A tough and challenging course on, for the most part, decent roads. 2 big climbs in the last 30 miles which were leg-sapping. My only regret is that I didn't stop at any of the feed stations en-route as I was well enough fueled and watered. This was my first KL but hopefully not my last

Wonderful people; Hawick and local communities are BRAW!...A first class Amateur event with loads of care and attention. The Borderers rose to the challenge in the most efficient and effective way. A stunningly superb route,a significant test 'is this the last ''HILL''..??!!!. The whole atmosphere was helped with great weather, but I never saw anyone other than the few unfortunates who had tumbles and were sore(!) not enjoying themselves. A real good 'toughie' but the roads were excellent and the drivers we met were cautious and generous with good road sense. Key points were marshalled very effectively. The feed and drink stations were absolutely outstanding..the Ladies and Gents were superb and so efficient; the grub was magnificent home baking..... My first and hopefully never my last. I'll be passing the word around. Final thanks to Jimmy J for a refreshing beer at the end, and also to Craig for being a superb lead for about the last 20 miles...and all those guys who allowed me to chain up with them..THANKYOU ALL. ''Cheers'', Denis.
(ps such a treat to get into the Clubhouse, changing rooms to see all the stalwarts of The Greens gone by, and yes, superb, hot massaging showers!)

FANTASTIC event. Really good route in wonderful surroundings. Have ridden it twice and only missed a third due to injury. Now an annual must do event. Easy to reach, friendly yet 'competitive', excellent facilities at start and finish. Outstanding on-course support. Don't miss this one off your calendar for sure. Much better value than certain other highly subscribed events. Good food, mementos and FREE photos of the event. All makes for a great day out.

Absolutely brilliant. Best day I've ever had on a bike. Support vans zooming about fixing punctures for people and everything. Felt like a mini TDF - this was helped by the mass start that gives it a different feeling from most Sportives.

Have done the long one 4 times, mainly as preparation for Bealach and to enjoy some late summer fitness when it exists, great quiet scenic roads, mixed but mainly good and improving surfaces, testing but not ridiculous and certainly tired at end. Hot showers brilliant. Last main feed a bit off the route so think I'll just get water at top of next climb (signed the Killer). Signing not too clear at end into Hawick and some could go off route but not easy to lose Hawick! Timing could be better and this year all times mixed in for short and long routes so confusing as to who did a long time for the short route or brilliant time for the long route but I would still ride it again.

excellent event, all the staff were brilliant cound,nt be faulted, timing a bit naff (but am nit picking) we all have computers for your own time. feedstops best i have had, puts other expensive rides to shame, scenery wonderfull, just right amount of riders i think not too overcrowded unlike (virgin rock cyclone)and many more, will i be back try and stop me.

A fantastic day, lovely route and the right level of support. Oraganisation and marshalling was excellent (although this "tourist" found it bit tricky getting through Hawick at the end) and it was one of the best events I've done. Will definitely be back next year (even though will probably never be as lucky with the weather!). Thanks a million - I really enjoyed the event.

This was my 3rd Ken Laidlaw having previously taken part in the 2008 and 2010 events. It really has grown over the last few years into one of best run and supported events in the country. It's great to have proper facilities at the finish. I wish other events could do the same. The only thing I think they could do to improve is to have electronic chip timing with splits. I think this event is now big enough to move away from manual timing.

The route itself is not super tough but it is still a challenge. The climbs, whilst not particularly steep, do tend to drag on and seven of the climbs top out at well over 1,000 feet. That last climb at Leap Linns was a a real struggle.

I don't intend in taking part in many sportives next year but I probably will come back to this one.

Fabulous route. Marshalling was proactive and well-drilled - all all day. No energy drinks at the feed stations, just squash, but lots of home-made savoury and sweet made up for that ! Overall a great day. Hosed down with rain for the last 30 miles but it didn't seem to matter - I highly recommend the ride.
