PREPARE FOR BATTLE

CYCLOSPORTIVE WARRIORS !

This event opens on the 3rd February

with reduced entries available to the first 150 entrants

Burgess Hill 1066 Cyclosportive

Sunday 25th May 2014
Four fabulously undulating courses have been designed for entrants to enjoy the magnificently, rural and scenic 1066 countryside along with the other parts of the Weald and Ashdown Forest, this is a cyclosportive not to be missed.

With the start in Burgess Hill, the 1066 Ride has four different distances which are:-

Classic @ 104 miles, Click here

Challenge @ 85 miles, Click here

Tour @ 66 miles, Click here

Kermesse @ 40 miles Click here

Riders on the different routes in this cyclosportive have some challenging terrain to ride over as they travel through the beautiful countryside of Sussex.

The Classic route is the longest and hardest of the four routes. It is a ride of 104 miles and is based mainly in East Sussex leading the riders From Burgess Hill to Battle. The route passes through some lovely scenic roads of the the South Downs, Ashdown Forest and the rolling roads of the Lower Weald. With 2259 meters of ascents there are plenty of places to practice your grimacing and various other pain induced facial expressions more than likely be caught by avelo images only to be replaced invariably with a hard to wipe away smile due to the amount of fun the routes on 1066 produces.

All the four routes will prove to be unforgettable and riders will want to come back again and again. These really are quality routes on this cyclosportive.

The Classic route along with the other rides should prove to be a major battle for any cyclosportive warrior.

All riders on the 1066 Cyclosportive no matter what route they do, have to conquer the infamous Cob Lane Hill (12 miles before the Finish) which at 20% and with tired legs is a definite cleat breaker. Many cyclosportive warriors in the past have found that walking is the only way up Cob Lane, the walk of shame on this short but cruel hill is common and probably to be expected due to the miles beforehand taking their toll.

SRS Events have excellent support for riders as they tackle the courses most notably the feed stations which are invariably in village halls to make sure riders are comfortable when they stop for something to eat and drink. All Feed Stations have free Sport in Science drinks and energy foods like bannanas flapjacks etc and you can even stop for a cup of coffee or tea with cake and buscuits and enjoy the views if setting a fast time is not important.

Along with the feed stations the riders on route are supported by mechanics, medical emergency staff and broom wagons to pick riders up and get them back to the HQ if things don't go quite to plan.

On finishing riders will receive their time, digitally calculated by SPORTident along A certificate proving that they are true cyclosportive warriors can be downloaded off the internet for free after the event.

HQ after care

Cyclosportive Warriors definitely need feeding immediately after battling their way to victory. After collecting your time achieved for the ride from Sportident, riders are invited to enjoy the free food and a hot drink laid on by SRS Events in Oakmeeds College main hall which serves as a good place to socialise with fellow riders.

Those travelling by car to the event will have the benefit of free parking at the HQ at Oakmeeds Community College or if that is filled up then the town centre car parks which are only 5 minutes away from the HQ.

The Burgess Hill train Station is also only 5 minutes walk away from the HQ, although riders should check with the train company they are using to make sure travelling with bikes on a Sunday is possible.
