The Cycling Weekly Surrey Hills Cyclone takes in some of Surrey's finest villages, countryside and hills and offers a fantastic spring challenge to set the scene for your cycling year. Now starting from Dorking this venue gives quick access to the delights of the Surrey Hills with its scenic views mixed with challenging climbs.

The full-blown 86mile Epic route delves deep into Surrey and will provide a robust challenge for any rider. The standard route is no less challenging at 60miles and still includes all of the major climbs. The 28mile Short route incorporates the best of the area in a compact package.

All routes are suitable for a wide range of riders. Although the hills are testing, any rider with a reasonable level of fitness and preparation will conquer them.

Epic route: The longest of the three routes includes some of the south of England's most iconic climbs. After a gentle warm-up comes the first climb of the day up to Ranmore via West humble, the taste of things to come!!

Then it's out to Albury and through the back lanes to Cranleigh where the fearsome Barhatch Lane awaits the unsuspecting!....A scenic loop through Peaslake then leads out to a respite from climbing as the route hits the Low Weald between North and South Downs. Then its north to Leith Hill, using the scenic Broomehall Lane ascent, just a warm up before the big one, Whitedown!

This 20 percent ascent will really stretch out your ability to suffer for sure!!...then it's a fast cruise back into Dorking where there are welcome refreshments, rewards and massages awaiting all finishers.

Standard route: Including all of the climbs of the Epic route, the Standard route will be a popular choice among riders. After leaving the start in Dorking the Standard route tracks the Epic route after the energy sapping challenge which is Barhatch the course splits at Ellens Green, with the loop over Leith Hill and Whitedown still to come it is not time to relax just yet!

This route may be slightly lower in overall mileage but it is still an awesome challenge to complete!

Short route: Despite missing out a considerable chunk of the longer routes, the Short loop still provides a challenge through Surrey's outstanding scenery. The Short route riders may miss out on the Barhatch and Leith hills but with an extra cheeky climb of Albury Hill to get the legs ready for Whitedown this is not a route to be sniffed at.
