Last year I wrote a review about the Reg Harris Sportives with a choice of 26 or 51-mile routes. Organised by Marilyn Hughes with, husband David Hughes and his Rotary club, who provide a lot of the help on the day along with many friends and neighbours as well as some people from the charities and a local bike shop Cookson's of Whitefield Lancashire
A sportive I have taken part in every year since 2003, starting with around 200 riders and now there is 1500 almost every year, this event is organised by a well known bicycle shop in Stoke on Trent, one who built frames for Reg Harris, owned by an ex professional cyclist
Marilyn is not a professional event's organiser, does not own a bicycle shop, as far as I know not an ex professional bike rider, however; if you take part you would think she was all three, take it from me "she's organised"
A warm Lancastrian welcome awaits your arrival, total pre ride organisation, challenging routes with detailed signage, a GPX route is available, however; with faultless marshalling I did not look at my Edge 705. Feed stations "forget the television cooks" food to keep up the energy levels and the post ride food; these Ladies know how to cook, this event caters for the most discerning riders.
If you are considering this a first sportive, well its light years ahead of many events I have done, young or old you will be welcome, I am 65 not wishing my life away, but looking forward to the next one
One final point, for £60.00 you can order a Reg Harris jersey made to exacting standards in Italy by Santini, I have one and just ordering a second. Reg would approve of a fine jersey; I think you will agree with me, that Reg would not consider offering you anything of inferior quality

I have being taking part in Brian Rourke's Cat & Fiddle "Rourkie's Ride" almost since the very first event around 2003, Brian Rourke is a really great person to know, if you have taken part in this event you will most certainly enjoy the Reg Harris Cyclosportive, FACT!

Excellent event, rode it for two years now. Hoping for a change of course next year to keep it fresh.

This event is organised, many sportives say they're organised but this event is similar to Brian Rourke's Cat & Fiddle well organised, how can you tell, no injury not even those new to the event, marshalling and signage second to none, everyone had a great ride in the Lancashire countryside - a great place to ride a bike, yes Reg Harris was a lucky man. Then return to the legendary Lancashire hospitality
The post ride food, well forget your television competitions, all food yesterday was outstanding, I have ordered a superb quality Reg Harris jersey for 30.08.2015, I am taking part in the event for as long as they would like to me to do so, my other favourite sportive this year will be my 11th, now I have a second favourite to Cyclosportive to look forward to
Lancashire hospitality you're made welcome from the moment you arrive, and at the finish "new to me" I heard through the public address "well done David" and instructions where to go next, shower, park the bike, showers, massage, and that super post ride food of course etc.
Sounds like I am boasting about my home county, no, just honest FACT!

By far thebBest Sportive I've done for all-round classy feel. Feed stops and after-ride meal were amazing. Outstanding - will be back next year!
