Both routes pass through pretty Essex Villages and are rather flat apart from the largest climb in Essex "North Hill". At the finish line we have free refreshments Hot drinks and cakes, last year we attracted riders from 9 to 85 years of age. The 40km route is ideal for cyclists attempting a sportive for the first time. Both routes head out along Spaanschemat River Road and over the eastern side of Ou Kaapse Weg to Sun Valley. The 88 km continues straight over Black Hill to Main Road, turns right through Simonstown, up Smitswinkel past Cape Point, through Scarborough, and up the Slangkop climb to Kommetjie before returning towards Fish Hoek. Riders on the 123 km and 50 km route leave the Durbanville Racecourse and head out toward the silos (the 50 km riders turn left at this point), R304, R312 and Voorpaardeberg.
