We kick off out 2014 events with a rolling countryside scramble just a stones throw away from the M4. We're not starting out easy and riders will get a New Year's workout as they tackle some testing climbs as well as enjoying bridleways around Ridgeway, the oldest trail in the UK.
Reliability ride in the Chilterns with 107km and 58km versions. Challenging and hilly route through beautiful countryside. Route signposted with GPS track and routesheet available. It's a friendly, club event with a great route proven for many years, and electronic timing plus home-made cakes at the end. This 2014 event opener is beautiful and historic. Riders venture towards the Ridgeway, an ancient chalk ridge and one of the first roads used by man, as well as crossing over the Downlands Area of Outstanding Beauty. Walbury Hill adds to the spectacle and weather permitting we head to Streatley Hill, which was used in the Tour of Britain.
The Performance Cycles Winter Mini-Sportive Series is a series of six events designed to get you through the winter months. Costing just £7 per rider, these events offer two well signed routes (or approx. 45 and 65 miles) a freebie or two when you sign on and the all important bacon sandwich and hot drink when you finish. The Harp Hilly Hundred Reliability Trial is the first event in the Chiltern Classics series, organised by the Harp Road Club, it has been run every year since its inception in 1954. Recognised as one of the harder reliability trials in the area, because of the unrelenting terrain through the Chilterns. We're sorted whatever the weather, the surface here is generally always good regardless what January throws at us. We take you north up to Watergrove reservoir, then over to Todmorden before climbing up Rough Hill, through Hades and back to base. We're promising some hard climbs, rewarded by amazing views.
